Gateway has proven over 125 years its ability to evolve with massive changes in society. In 2015, Gateway’s Board recognized that it was time for us to draw upon this resource to prepare for a changing and uncertain tomorrow. We invested in the collective genius of our Board, Gateway staff team members, community partners and thought leaders from across Alabama and the country in the fields of social services, healthcare, leadership, and other key areas. We gathered input through face-to-face interactions and onlinesurveys from our partners, stakeholders and staff. We challenged ourselves to think beyond our personal perspectives and push past apparent limitations, to envision a future that truly changes the game for children and families, in Alabama and beyond.

 

The results have been truly amazing. We discovered insights and friendships that we never imagined possible, along with a previously unseen pathway to the future. We realized that if we are to survive as a global leader, we must have the strongest and most capable people on the planet. We came to understand that families are the crucible of developing those people, and they serve as humanity’s foundation. Families are in need of advocates and coaches to help them with two massive responsibilities—building strong people and therefore strong communities. What follows is our vision for Gateway 2025: A Game Changer for Families.
